The Christian's in Chiang Mai

Missionaries are not super spiritual beings as some people may think. You will discover that by reading here. We are pretty authentic people who love and miss our kids and even after living in Asia for 40 years have a hard time with good-byes. Raising our four daughters in Thailand was fun but leaving them in the USA, halfway around the globe is not so fun! Yet, as we walk with God we see His blessings on us a hundred fold. Journey with these two Iowa farm kids as we share our photos and experiences of life in Thailand, “The Land of Smiles.” We embrace the Bible as our guide and desire to share God’s message with all people.

Razorback Country

Our time in Arkansas is winding down.  Baby Lola Mae is doing great and mom and dad are adjusting to a family of four. We are soaking up each day with them before saying good-bye.

We have enjoyed reconnecting with some of the team members from the Uof A that were on the project in Thailand last summer....that group that we had the infamous Ship Wreck experience with. We will forever laugh about  and relive that "life threatening" experience. This is Linda their fearless leader.

We enjoyed being a part of the U of A Cru weekly staff meeting, and picked up a few ideas to take back with us to the campus ministry in Thailand.

We also  enjoyed attending the weekly "Cruesday" meeting on the UofA campus for the Cru movement.

Their campus director, Tim, taught the students this week. It is always exciting and motivating for us to see how God is working in each corner of the world through the ministry of Cru.

We also enjoyed going to watch Coach Sarah lead her girls to a UofA volleyball victory and seeing her heart for her team. We first met Sarah when she was on an AIA Volleyball project in Thailand this summer.

Lori drove up to meet her newest niece over the weekend, and we always love anytime we can get with her, too.

Goodbye all you Razorbacks until next time....  whenever that will be?

AIA USA Women's Volleyball

Every summer the Cru ministry to athletes, "Athletes in Action" sends out teams throughout the world on summer projects. These past two weeks, Thailand hosted a women's volleyball team from the USA.

They began with a training camp at the AIA headquarters in Xenia, Ohio and then had their orientation here in Chiang Mai.

Their schedule was full everyday.  It started with some volleyball coaching clinics in Chiang Mai with Christians, then some clinics for university students in the Chiang Mai region along with a few games. Their second week was in Bangkok playing with the Thailand Volleyball Federation and they even did a TV interview that will air this week on a national station.

The team consisted of university volleyball players, AIA staff, and some coaches.  It was exciting for us to find out that the new coach at University of Arkansas was on the team and we look forward to more time with Coach Sarah in Fayetteville.

After every game one or two  of the AIA players shared her testimony of knowing Jesus personally with the Thai team. They would tell them that one of the reasons they came to Thailand is that they wanted Thai people to know about Jesus.

Sao, our Thai AIA staff would then share with the girls a gospel presentation and how they can pray to receive Christ if they wanted to.  Several girls at every game made this decision.  Pray for the Thai AIA staff and students to be able to follow up with them now through the Internet and Bible Studies.

Thank- you to the AIA girls volleyball team for coming to Thailand this summer.  We loved getting to know you and watching you use your athletic gifts here in Thailand.
