The Christian's in Chiang Mai

Missionaries are not super spiritual beings as some people may think. You will discover that by reading here. We are pretty authentic people who love and miss our kids and even after living in Asia for 40 years have a hard time with good-byes. Raising our four daughters in Thailand was fun but leaving them in the USA, halfway around the globe is not so fun! Yet, as we walk with God we see His blessings on us a hundred fold. Journey with these two Iowa farm kids as we share our photos and experiences of life in Thailand, “The Land of Smiles.” We embrace the Bible as our guide and desire to share God’s message with all people.

Sarah visits Bangkok

I'm determined to get caught up on some blog posts here.  My evenings seem to fade away, but get ready- cuz I'm going to get this done.

Having my sister come visit me last month, was more special than I can put into words.  We stayed our first night in Bangkok at a hotel on the Chao Phraya River. It was a fun location, and we spent much of our time just relaxing and catching up.

Mike had been out of the country at meetings, but came in that night to join us and they too needed time to get caught up.

We stayed near the Asiatique night market, so walked there for our first dinner and browsing.

The next day, Mike had another meeting, so we explored Bangkok a bit more on our own. It's always fun walking the streets of Bangkok, because you are never sure what you will find.

Sarah was thrilled to find a stand with Khaw Neeo Mamuang (Mango's with sticky rice and coconut milk) which we ate on the spot.  It was soooo delicious.  Our favorite Thai dessert.

Life is just plain different. For example, this street cleaner... smiling at us with her eyes and in typical Thai fashion- posing for a photo.  Thai's are so gracious and service oriented which makes them very lovable and "na-rak". Bangkok is always a good visit, but Chiang Mai is our 'Home Sweet Home', now.
