The Christian's in Chiang Mai

Missionaries are not super spiritual beings as some people may think. You will discover that by reading here. We are pretty authentic people who love and miss our kids and even after living in Asia for 40 years have a hard time with good-byes. Raising our four daughters in Thailand was fun but leaving them in the USA, halfway around the globe is not so fun! Yet, as we walk with God we see His blessings on us a hundred fold. Journey with these two Iowa farm kids as we share our photos and experiences of life in Thailand, “The Land of Smiles.” We embrace the Bible as our guide and desire to share God’s message with all people.

Pumpkin, Pumkin, Pumpkin

Progress continues to take place with the healing of the foot.  Yesterday was another milestone for me to venture out all by myself for the first time!  I can drive!  Actually since the surgery was on my left foot, driving has not been difficult- but the walking to and from the car with bags and crutches was difficult.  Mike has been wonderful in helping me, but it was so nice to be out all by myself yesterday and not feel that I needed to hurry because he was waiting on me.  After more than a few hours of having my foot down and walking on it-- it lets me know that it is time to elevate it again and get some ice on it.  Thankful for the progress at 6 weeks post surgery and the 50% of weight bearing that I am at now.

There are not big pumpkins like this in Thailand, so I had to get one along with some mums to enjoy this season. Noticing that Americans are really liking that pumpkin flavor this time of year.  There are pumpkin lattes, pumpkin ice cream, pumpkin coffee creamer, pumpkin cookies, and the list goes on and on.  I'm even enjoying some pumpkin flavor on my morning toast.

The leaves are flying up here, sometimes it looks like "snowing leaves".  We can't keep up with keeping them off our deck.

We've been looking for and digging out our warmer clothes that have been in storage, and turned on our heat today.  This 40 F. right now and getting down to 20 F. tonight is a big shock to me.  Please beautiful autumn, stay a little longer. 70 F. is such perfect weather to me! I am savoring each last day of you!

O-C-T-O-B-E-R

If I could choose any time of year to have a surgery and have to sit still and enjoy the view outside, it would be RIGHT NOW!  The colors and leaves and weather this week have been just glorious to me.  I absolutely cannot get enough of  the views out my window.

This is the view looking down the road out our front door.

This is looking up towards our cabin.  It's the cute little one on the left.

Anyone, like us who has lived in the tropics has a very large extra dose of appreciation for the fall season.  It is always the season that we miss the most. The only seasons in the tropics are wet and dry.   Being away from the Autumn amazing-ness just makes us enjoy it so much more.  We do not take for granted this yearly seasonal splendor of change.

Yesterday, I ventured out with my camera and a slow limp to enjoy the cool crisp fresh air.  The conference grounds here are so peaceful this time of year.  Some days, we are about the only ones around.  This playground is just calling out for C,S,H,and N to come and play in a few more weeks.

Seriously, could this tree right out our door be much more vibrant.  When the sun is shining on it at dusk, it almost looks like fire.

The leaves colors have been changing so quickly and now they are starting to  fall off.  I just do not want this season to end, but the leaves clearly are not going to stay on the trees much longer.

Even the piles of leaves on the ground bring me delight as they crunch under our feet.  Please October, don't ever ever end!  I am enjoying you more than you'll ever know, you have lifted my spirits,  and your beauty all around is too much to take in.  I would love a few more months of you!
