The Christian's in Chiang Mai

Missionaries are not super spiritual beings as some people may think. You will discover that by reading here. We are pretty authentic people who love and miss our kids and even after living in Asia for 40 years have a hard time with good-byes. Raising our four daughters in Thailand was fun but leaving them in the USA, halfway around the globe is not so fun! Yet, as we walk with God we see His blessings on us a hundred fold. Journey with these two Iowa farm kids as we share our photos and experiences of life in Thailand, “The Land of Smiles.” We embrace the Bible as our guide and desire to share God’s message with all people.

Celebrating Baby Seiler

I made it to the USA just in time to be part of a shower that Jennifer's friends had for her and their little one.  That was two weeks ago, but I'm  still playing catch up and  want to share the photos from such a fun celebration.

I enjoyed  meeting some of her friends and seeing the support she has through people in her life in Arkansas.

It was a beautiful day with a happy atmosphere and  such cute decorations.

Lots of variety with the food and American treats!

Jen has always been a lover of popcorn, so Lori made a popcorn bar for us to munch on throughout the party.

The shower hostesses were Madison, her three sisters, and Kelly from her work.  It was actually at Kelly's house.

Little one was definitely showered with a lot of useful and fun gifts.

There were friends from her work, college days, relatives, church and all the way from Thailand! :)

I was so thrilled to get to be with all four daughters and watch them pour out some love for their little sister at this most exciting time in her life.  Jen's due date is now just two weeks from today!  I have a ticket to arrive in 9 days- just in time for her due date!  C'mon "baby S"-- please stay warm and snug until I get there!  It won't be long!

Happy One Year Anniversary Ben and Jennifer!

A year ago today, we were giving away our youngest daughter in marriage.   It had been an autumn full of wedding planning, preparing and celebrating since two daughters got married within a few months of each other.  What a beautiful day we had celebrating this new union.  The weather was great, and special friends came from near and far to celebrate with us.

Jen and Ben are spending their one year anniversary at a hotel in Branson, the city where they got married.  We just had a phone call chat with them.  Jen told me that  looking back over their first year -  marriage has turned out to be  way better than dating and even being engaged, because of  the security they both have in each other now.

I have spent much of this weekend, reliving their wedding as I am finally putting together a scrapbook and photo albums for them.  Just a few reminiscent photos here:

The special friends that went out of their way to celebrate with us and help make a memory truly meant allot to them  on their wedding day.

Family and children added so much and were an essential part.

Love this image of Mike tenderly preparing to pass his daughter on to her husband.

As for now Jen and Ben are both working at  different businesses in Fayetteville.  They are thankful for good steady full time jobs in a hurting  economy and both had recent work evaluations and were promoted! They are continuing to seek  God for what plans he has for their future. We are proud of them for desiring God's best for them and wanting to make their lives count for something.

Congratulations Ben and Jennifer on your one year anniversary!  May you have many many years of blissful adventures together wherever God leads you!  We love you!

Congratulations Ben and Jennifer Seiler!

Tonight is Jennifer and Ben's graduation form the Kanakuk Institute.  It has been a good 8 months of learning that they will never forget.  Last week they completed their  semester long project of writing their own belief statement of the  fundamental truths of the Christian faith.  They were  stretched, challenged, and forced to defend even the most foundational of assumptions about Christianity and then walk away with a physical document supporting their spiritual beliefs.  During this year they have built deep relationships with fellow students.  Jen shared on her blog today her thoughts about leaving. They got married half way through and here they are with some of their fellow KI friends who attended their wedding.

Their plans for next year have been redirected for awhile.  They were planning on studying at DTS, but have put that on hold.  We are so proud of them as we watch then seek God concerning his future plans for their lives, which are unclear now.  This summer they will be on the leadership team for the summer long Teen Program with Campus Crusade in Ft. Collins, Colorado.

Our congrats to you Jen and Ben-- don't forget to take some pictures for us. We would love to be there to celebrate with you and the other parents, but will have to let Ben's parents fill in the gap for us this time.   WE LOVE YOU!
